Canada, Mexico Jab At Trump Auto Tariffs

Trade delegates from Canada and Mexico tell the Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City that neither country is posing a national security threat by making vehicles and auto parts that enter the U-S market. Security is the reason cited by President Trump in considering tariffs on auto imports.
Colin Bird from the Canadian government reminded the seminars that Canadian soldiers fight and die next to American soldiers in major conflicts.
Guillermo Soto of Mexico says Mexican-made auto parts keep the U-S auto companies competitive. Soto says U-S made parts comprise nearly 40-percent of the average vehicle imported from Mexico.
Soto says the U-S automakers share production of vehicles between Canada, Mexico, and the U-S.
