Conyers District Up For Grabs

Voters are going to the polls in Detroit today to vote from a large list of candidates who would like to fill the vacant congressional seat of John Conyers.

Conyers resigned his seat amid accusations that he had mistreated women staffers over the years.

He had represented Michigan’s 13th Congressional District for 52 years.

There is a long list of candidates to replace him, but we might not have to wait until the November general election to find out who that will be.

The 13th Congressional District is one of the most prominent Democratic-leaning in the nation, so it would seem that today’s Democratic primary should decide the race.

The November general election is actually 2 elections … one to decide who serves out the remaining two months of Conyers term and the second to select a new congressman to begin a two year term starting in January.
