A Belleville man accused of a hit-and-run accident that took the life of a Detroit police officer is due in court today for a preliminary exam.
19 year old Jonathan Cole has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of 30 year old officer Fadi Shukur.
It was just after 2:30 in the morning on August 4th.
Police were on West McNichols to break up party.
Shukur was walking to his scout car when he was hit by Cole, who had been speeding and drinking.
Shukur was critically injured and died a few days later in the hospital.
Cole fled the scene, but later that same day turned himself into police.
