State Erases The Criminal Box From Job Applications

Gov. Snyder has ordered state agencies to remove the checkbox from job applications indicating that a person applying for a job is a convicted felon. Snyder is encouraging private employers to do the same.
Snyder says giving prospective workers a second chance will help address the labor shortage, and help families and communities.
The governor will appear at a jobs event today with Detroit Mayor Duggan.
The felony conviction box will be replaced with an affirmation of good character statement, similar to what will be used on licensing applications.
