Alert To Med Marijuana Biz

Time is running short for Michigan dispensaries wanting to get a medical marijuana license.

The deadline is Friday and officials for the Bureau of Medical Marijuana say applicants have not been responding in a timely matter.

They say it is unclear how many businesses could be forced to close if they don’t mean the Friday deadline.

More than 200 shops had applied last February had applied to keep operating while the licensing process continued.

A meeting to be held today will be the last chance for those dispensaries currently operating to get a license.

Businesses that receive licensing approval today will have a chance to get those licenses on Friday and would then have 30 days to record, tag or package all marijuana as required by the new state tracking system.

After that time, any marijuana not obtained through a licensed channel would have to be destroyed.
