Pot And The Private Workplace

Michigan voters are being asked to vote on a measure that would allow for the recreational use of marijuana.
Making pot legal would not protect job applicants or employees who test positive for marijuana use.

This is for both pre-employment drug screening or random drug testing in the workplace.

What this means is that you can still be fired, or not hired in the first place, because of a positive test result.

The language on the ballot is clear:

It says the proposal, in part, does not require an employer to change his or her existing work place drug policies.

For many employers, it’s matter of work-place safety.
