An illegal border crosser who hit and killed a Wixom teenager with his car is headed to prison.
20 year old Miguel Cerda pleaded guilty to a reduced charge for hitting 14 year old Justin Lee of Wixom. Cerda drove away, and planned to go back to his native Mexico before he was tracked down in Lansing. An Oakland County judge sentenced Cerda to 5 to 15 years.
The victim’s mother told Cerda that he will have to live with the memory of hitting her son and leaving him to die in a ditch.
Cerda, thru an interpreter, said he was sorry and asked for forgiveness.
The mother told the court she thought Cerda should have gotten more than 5 to 15 years in prison.
