Paris police open fire on car where Tour de France will be held

Police in Paris opened fire Sunday morning on a car that then forced its way through a barrier where the Tour de France is being held, but the driver managed to escape, according to BFMTV, a CNN affiliate in France. The car had reportedly struck another vehicle, and police wanted to question the driver. But instead of stopping, the driver fled, crashing through a barrier set up at Place de la Concorde to protect the tour, perhaps the most famous bicycle race in the world. Police then opened fire but failed to stop the car, BFMTV reported. The driver is still being sought, as is another man who was with him. There was no return fire from the car, the station reported, citing a police source.

The Tour de France ends Sunday. Chris Froome is set to win the tour, becoming the first Briton to win the tour twice. He also won the event in 2013.
