P-FAS Probe At Ford Airport

The state is taking it’s investigation into P-FAS contamination to Michigan’s second-busiest airport.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will sample wells near the Gerald R. Ford airport in Grand Rapids for the presence of P-FAS. The harmful chemicals are used in de-icing of airplanes, so they’re found in airport runoff.
The airport claimed several months ago that testing was not necessary.
DEQ suspects PFAS may also be coming from other sources besides the airport.
Dozens of P-FAS sites have now been detected in Michigan.

Members of Congress are moving to get federal Superfund money for cleanups.
Flint congressman Dan Kildee has led the formation of a task force:

Among the goals— to determine how dangerous P-FAS really is.
