State Declares Cold Emergency

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in Michigan due to sub-zero temperatures.
Whitmer has activated the State of Emergency Operations Center, which is located in Dimondale.
Anyone who gets into an emergency due to the cold and needs help can call 2-1-1. The emergency center will try to get help. This is meant to put the state in position to help communities deal with the extreme cold.

A number of states have declared emergencies.

Many communities have warming centers open for those in need. They include Detroit, Novi, Troy, and many others.

Some school districts are closed through Thursday.
