January Auto Sales Flat But Healthy

Consumers showed up at the new car showrooms in January, despite the weather and a government shutdown.

Jeep and Ram had another strong month, leading Fiat Chrysler to post a 2-percent sales gain.
Deliveries rose 24 percent for Ram trucks.

Toyota dropped 6-percent.
Nissan fell 19-percent. They’ve been reducing fleet sales.
Honda had a slight sales increase, with Acura posting a strong 10-percent jump.

Overall sales are mostly flat, but at a high annual selling rate.

GM and Ford no longer report monthly sales. They do quarterly reports.
Edmunds dot com forecast a healthy sales gain for Ford, and a slight drop at GM for January.
