Could One Auto Merger Lead To Another?

The French automaker Renault wants a merger with Nissan, and then with Fiat Chrysler.

First would come a merger with Nissan. Renault and Nissan are partly connected, and shared the same CEO… Carlos Ghosn. but Ghosn hit the rocks, charged with financial crimes in Japan, and Ghosn’s plan to fully merge the companies was rejected by the French government.

None of the companies had any comment on the reports that the chairman of Fiat Chrysler had met with leaders of the PSA Group which operates Peugeot of France.
The late Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne had long sought merger with several companies as a way to underwrite the huge costs of developing new technology.
