The Ghoul has died.
Ron Sweed was The Ghoul on channel 50 in the 70’s and 80’s, hosting horror movies late at night while doing crazy comedy bits with catch phrases and a cast of characters…. like Froggie.
Fans of the show knew that when Froggie showed up, something bad would happen to him, as the Ghoul would smash, stomp, chop, drill, or squash Froggie in ways that would not be allowed on TV today.
He did the show from his hometown of Cleveland, but he was most popular in Detroit.
Sweed had heart problems, and died at his home in Cleveland. His family says he was 70.
