Carmack Back In Court

The preliminary exam continues today for a Detroit businessman charged with four felonies in his sale of a 10 acre Detroit riverfront property.
59 year old Robert Carmack of Woodhaven sold the property to an Illinois man for one million dollars in 2016.

Authorities say he never completed a 250-thousand dollar purchase of the site, but used draft documents to fraudulently represent himself as its owner.

Carmack’s attorney said the Detroit City Council approved a quit claim deed for the 250-thousand dollar figure in June of 2007.

Prosecutor’s say the money was never paid to the city.

Carmack has been in a long-running feud with Mayor Mike Duggan and said it’s the reason behind the charges against him.
