Dog Stabber Sentencing

A Utica man who stabbed  his own dog to death is scheduled to be sentenced today.
23 year old Alexander Gerth is facing up to four years in prison.

The dog had been found stabbed multiple times underneath a picnic table in Grant Park in Utica on January 24th.

It was later learned that Gerth tried to adopt the mixed-breed pit bull, but was turned down by the Michigan Humane Society because of his living conditions.

He then convinced a friend in December to adopt the dog and give it to him.

The dog was found dead less than a month later.
