The Macomb County board is poised to put a tax increase of nearly 1-mill to pay for a new county jail. The millage would support bonds to pay for the project. The millage would start in 2020. The millage would appear on the ballot this November. Sheriff Tony Wickersham and many county officials say the old jail is outmoded and overcrowded.
