Court Hearing On Roseville Crash

A preliminary exam  today for a man who fled police and critically injured another motorist is sure to rekindle the debate over the value of high-speed police chases.

In most cases, police call off high-speed chases because of the dangers to others.

But, in this case, the question is whether police should have chased 25 year old Mack Cox.

Roseville police had stopped him for driving with a broken headlight.

As a police officer approached his car, he sped away.

Police decided not to chase him.

A half mile away, Cox hit another car, critically injuring a 49 year old St. Clair Shores woman.

Police say decision on whether to chase or not to chase is always a question that can never be answered fully.
