Traffic on I-96 in western Oakland County is a nightmare.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has some plans for fixing the problem: Flex lanes.
A public forum will be held from 4 until 7p at the Novi Police department.
MDOT officials has been discussing plans to open additional lanes during rush hours on a stretch of the freeway between Kent Lake Road and I-275.
The so-called flex route system would use a shoulder of the freeway as a temporary lane during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
The largest volumes of traffic in the area occur eastbound in the morning and westbound in the evening.
Officials say specific details on all plans for improving traffic flow in the area will be outlined at today’s open forum.
