Help Wanted: County Executive

Applications are being accepted for the job of Oakland County Executive.
The county board of commissioners says the deadline is noon tomorrow. Applications are available on the county website.
A committee of the board will do interviews on Wednesday. The board says interviews will be open to the public and will be live on the board website.
Controversy has surrounded the board’s intention to name a new county executive. Charges of backroom dealing surfaced before the former chairman of the board, David Woodward, resigned from the board. Woodward is running for the job in the election next year, but he had to resign from the board to be considered for a board appointment. The current executive, Gerald Poisson, a deputy of the late L. Brooks Patterson, accused Woodward and Democrats on the board with fixing the appointment, even before Patterson’s funeral, which is Thursday. The board is scheduled to meet Friday, and could take action to name a new executive. Poisson became county executive upon Patterson’s death.
