The Detroit City Council has approved Mayor Mike Duggan’s land transfer with the Moroun family. The vote was 7-2. This will enable Detroit to expand and make improvements at Riverside Park in Southwest Detroit. It also gives the Morouns’ Detroit International Bridge Company a three-acre piece of the park near the Ambassador Bridge. The plan is to use this land to build a second bridge to Canada. Those plans still need several approvals from the state and federal government as well as the Canadian government.
