Sentence In Detroit Demo Kickbacks

A second man charged with accepting thousands of dollars in bribes while rigging bids to demolish homes in Detroit is scheduled to be sentenced today.
48 year old Aradondo Haskins of Detroit was a former estimator for the Adamo Group demolition company.

Prosecutors say Haskins and 62 year old Anthony DaGuanno of New Baltimore, another estimator with the company, without the knowledge of the company, accepted kickbacks from a subcontractor in exchange for providing information about bids from its competitors, allowing the contractor to then submit a lower bid for the work.

DaGuanno was sentenced to one year in prison earlier this month and agreed to repay more than 372-thousand dollars.

The two men are the first to be sentenced in a long-running federal investigation into corruption in Detroit’s home demolition program.
