Warren Pot Decision Delayed

Warren City Council meets tonight with licensing for medical marijuana dispensaries on the agenda. But the application process has already triggered a court fight, leaving the issue up in the air.

As the Warren council was set to debate dozens of applications, Macomb County judge Carl Marlinga issued a temporary restraining order barring the city from issuing licenses for medical pot stores.
A council committee has been studying the issue and gave scores to the 65 applicants which are trying to get one of 15 licenses. A company that finished in the middle of the pack sued, claiming the council was not following the city ordinance on medical marijuana. Warren is seen as a lucrative market.
Another hearing is scheduled in 2 weeks.
