School Tax On Next March Ballot In Macomb

Macomb County voters will be asked to approve a 1 point 9 mill tax increase for public schools in the county. The millage would go to the Intermediate School District, which would then distribute the money to school districts. The millage vote will be in March.
Boosters say it would raise more than 50 million dollars for hard-pressed schools.
Opponents say the vote is timed for the election where the fewest voters normally turn out, so that public school districts and supporters can more easily target likely voters for passage.
