A striking UAW member was hit by a car and killed while walking the picket line outside of the GM plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
Police and the union indicate it was an accident.
Police say the car was driven by a family member of another striker.
UAW President Gary Jones said in a written statement, “Today’s accident is heartbreaking for UAW Spring Hill members. We will continue to work to ensure that safety is a priority on the picket line.”
UAW members at GM are holding the ratification vote for a proposed contract. The strike is in it’s 37th day.
