New Drone Regs Are Coming

Time is running out for drone pilots and hobbyists to have their voices heard before new FAA regulations are handed down for unmanned aircraft.

As the March 2 deadline for comments to the FAA approaches, the new proposed Remote ID  rules would drastically change the way drones and other unmanned aircraft will be allowed to fly in the United States. The FAA plans to implement  The Remote ID system. And although pilots and recreational model aircraft pilots were preparing for this new drone ID system,  many UA pilots are none to happy about the FAA’s submitted proposal. Under the would- be law… drones” or traditional model aircraft would be required to pay for a 3rd party app to broadcast their location and store all the info from all their flights for 6 months. The FAA projects when the rules are finalized it could take as long as four or five years before they are implemented. Deadline for comments to the FAA is Monday.
