What’s Happening In Day 42 Of Michigan Restrictions

It’s day 42 of the modified Stay at home Michigan.

29 more deaths and 547 new cases of corona virus are reported in Michigan. The total number of cases is at 43,754 and 4,0 49 deaths.
The number of tests are increasing , with 11-thousand 385 in the latest reporting day. Less than 10-percent came back positive the lowest daily figure to date. Michigan has a 9-percent fatality rate. The state reports 15-thousand 659 people have recovered.
Michigan now has a mental health test line for those who want to talk to a crisis counselor. RESTORE to 741 741.
We are now required to wear a mask or other face covering when going into a grocery store or drug store.
Gov. Whitmer has extended her order placing restrictions on visiting nursing homes.

Whitmer will deliver another briefing today.
Police are investigating whether a security guard at Family Dollar store in Flint may have been shot and killed because he wanted a customer to wear a mask.
Meat producers are advising shoppers to avoid panic buying of pork, chicken, and beef. Shoppers aren’t listening.
The Island Resort, an Indian casino in the U-P, will begin a phased re-opening this week. Indian casino’s are not under the jurisdiction of the governor’s emergency orders.

Adams died April 3 of COVID-19-related complications.

Ford put out a 64-page “return to work” playbook with safety protocols. Ford plans to begin the process of restarting plants in Europe and some  employees will return to work this week in North America to begin installing equipment. A UAW statement says they are encouraged with the results of safety protocols so far.

Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live did a spoof of Gov. Whitmer, who sent Strong what she called a Michigan care package—- 4 cases of Bell’s Beer, a t-shirt, and some stickers.
A woman in Farmington Hills is making masks for her neighbors and have been leaving them on her porch.
Barrett Harr has had neighbors and strangers stopping by her home for weeks and picking up free masks.
The masks are available to anyone.
Every day about 100 masks are picked up.
She has made more than 800 masks since April.
