Prosecutors have charged 44 year old Antonio George of Novi with fraudulently trying to obtain more than 3.1 million dollars in federal COVID-19 aid. Investigators say he tried to cheat banks by sending them at least 19 phony loan applications for pandemic assistance.
The Michigan Department of State is reminding drivers that license plate, state ID and vehicle renewal extensions will expire on September 30th. As part of the fight against the spread of the corona virus, extensions were granted to those with expirations that were scheduled to occur between March 1st and September 30th. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said branch hours have been expanded to accommodate these renewals and that there were still plenty of appointments available.
