U-M Grad Instructors On Strike

Members of the Graduate Employees Union at the University of Michigan are on the picket line instead of the classroom today. The organization said that there are several demands they want met, including the right to work remotely and increased COVID-19 testing and tracing. A school spokesman noted a new contract with the university was reached in April and added that public employee strikes are illegal. A union official said they are striking in the midst of a pandemic in order to protect the entire community.
