Record CV Cases Continue; Wayco Sheriff In Hospital

Wednesday will mark the end of the first week of the state health department’s three-week restrictions in fighting the upsurge in COVID-19 cases. Michigan reported 7,528 new virus cases and another 101 deaths on Saturday. It was the sixth consecutive record week for confirmed infections.
Wayne County has also reported a recent upsurge in cases of the corona virus and the health department is now urging that all county schools go to remote learning through January 15th. The advisory is to all public, non-public and boarding schools in Wayne County.
Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon is said to be alert and resting comfortably, but remains hospitalized after testing positive for the corona virus on Thursday. He was admitted Friday after experiencing some breathing problems. Napoleon’s brother, Highland Park Police Chief, Hilton Napoleon, tested positive in March and was hospitalized for 71 days.

A federal judge rejected a challenge of the state’s latest restrictions filed by the Michigan Restaurant Association.
