Michigan Library Association Fights Book Bans Across the State

Aug. 2, 2023 ~ As book challenges and bans relating to the LGBTQ+ community and people of color sweep that nation, Michigan library groups are looking to protect citizens’ access to information and diverse stories.

Michigan Library Association Executive Director Debbie Miklua is challenging these book bans in libraries across the state over growing concern about attacks on published works written by or focused on marginalized communities. She joins “JR Afternoon” to discuss how she is helping Michiganders fight book bans in their local libraries.
