Michigan Lawmakers Look to Ban People Convicted of Domestic Abuse Misdomeaneors from Possessing Guns

Aug. 17, 2023 ~ Michigan lawmakers Sen. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) and Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) are currently working on legislation to make it harder for those convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors, or are subject to a personal protection order, from possessing firearms.

The bill, currently being drafted, would bare anyone convicted of domestic abuse misdemeanors for years after jail and probation sentences are completed, and fines are paid. Action Impact Firearms and Training Center owner Bill Kucyk discusses his thoughts on the bill on 760 WJR‘s “All Talk.”
