UAW Workers Vote to Authorize Strike if New Contract Cannot Be Reached By Sept. 14

Aug. 28, 2023 ~ Tensions between UAW and Detroit‘s big three automakers continue to rise as union members voted to allow leadership to authorize a strike if a new contract cannot be reached by Sept. 14.

The vote was held on Friday, with 97% of Ford Motor Co., Stellantis NV, and General Motors union employees approving the measure. Detroit News auto and business reporter Jordyn Grzelewski spoke more about the strike authorization on “Focus with Paul W. Smith.”
