Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers Announces Bid For Michigan’s Open Senate Seat

Sept. 6, 2023 ~ Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers announced his candidacy for Michigan‘s open U.S. Senate Wednesday, joining four other Republicans vying for the party’s nomination.

Rogers, 60, is one of the more prominent GOP candidates running for the seat, with the Livingston County native previously representing Michigan’s 8th Congressional District from 2001 to 2015. He then served as a national security adviser on former President Donald Trump‘s transition team, whom Rogers later condemned after attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.

However, he also criticized the “politicization” of the legal system following Trump’s multiple indictments.

The current representative for Roger’s former congressional district, Elissa Slotkin, is the frontrunner in the Democrat primary for the senate seat as of Sept. 6. Rogers spoke more about his campaign announcement on 760 WJR‘s “All Talk” and “JR Morning with Guy Gordon.”
