The Paul W. Smith Golf Classic Raises Over $492,000 For Childrens Charities

Sept. 18, 2023 ~ WJR‘s Paul W. Smith hosted the 20th annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic Monday at the Indianwood Golf and Country Club, raising about $500,000 for charitable causes.

The charities chosen benefit Detroit-area youth, and include Detroit PAL, the Children’s Center, the Children’s Foundation, and Variety of Detroit. Smith said on his show “Focus” that the event has raised about $8 million dollars over the years for Detroit charities, with the charities affecting 55,000 children every year.

“We have the most generous people in (the Detroit) area, always,” Smith said. “Even when they are going through rough times, they understand they are better off than other people who need help.“

Smith spoke more about the event on Monday’s episode of “Focus with Paul W.”
