WASHINGTON D.C., Oct. 2, 2023 ~ While Congress avoided a government shutdown at the last moment over the weekend after President Joe Biden signed a temporary funding bill Saturday, another shutdown threat still looms in the distance.

The bill was passed by the House after weeks of far-right GOP pressure on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to add massive spending cuts to the bill that the Senate would have rejected. The shutdown would have temporarily furloughed hundreds of thousands of federal employees and halted services that include federal food assistance programs.

However, Democrat Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-6) is worried about the removal of aid to Ukraine and more legislative drama before the new deadline of Nov. 17. She spoke more about the bill on “JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds.”
