DETROIT, May 20, 2024 ~ President Joe Biden visited Detroit Sunday for outreach with Black voters, though not everyone in the metro Detroit community gave him a warm welcome.
While Biden spoke at the 69th annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner for the NAACP Detroit branch in Huntington Place, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protestors gathered outside to protest Biden and call out guests for attending the event amid the president’s support for Israel amid its military campaign into the Gaza Strip that has killed over 35,000 people. At least one protestor was arrested outside the event, where Biden took shots at former President Donald Trump by calling him “unhinged.”
