Warren Father to Stand Trial Under Michigan’s Safe Storage Law After 8-Year-Old Son Shoots Himself

WARREN, May 23, 2024 ~ A Warren father was bound over Macomb County Circuit Court Tuesday on felony charges regarding improper gun storage after his 8-year-old son shot himself in the head.

Theo Nichols, 56, will be the first parent in Macomb County to stand trial under Michigan‘s new safe gun storage law after the gun incident on April 19, which his son survived. Nichols is also charged with second-degree child abuse and faces up to 24 years in prison, according to the Detroit News.
