CFO, CEO Out of Detroit Riverfront Conservancy Amid FBI Investigation

DETROIT, June 3, 2024 ~ The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy saw a chaotic weekend with its CFO fired and CEO resigning over an FBI investigation of financial mismanagement.

CFO William Smith was fired by the nonprofit’s board on Friday, along with CEO Mark Wallace announcing his resignation, after it was discovered the Conservancy had $40 million unaccounted for. The Conservancy has been responsible for the restoration of miles of Detroit‘s riverfront in recent years.
