Detroit Police to Crack Down on ‘Illegal Block Parties” Following Mass Shooting that Left Two Dead, 19 Injured

DETROIT, July 8, 2024 ~ Detroit Police announced a plan Monday to crack down on “illegal block parties,” blaming them for a slew of gun violence incidents in the past week.

During a press conference, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said six of these block parties saw 27 shooting victims over Fourth of July weekend, including a mass shooting that killed two people and injured 19 others in Detroit‘s east side.
