DEC RISING STARS HONOREE | AUTUMN HEGNER

Autumn Hegner, employee benefits consultant at USI Insurance Services, has made a significant impact through her diverse volunteer roles, both within her professional industry and the communities she serves. Each position has allowed her to contribute to economic development, human resources, community welfare, and leadership development.

In 2021, Autumn began volunteering at The Community House, an organization that offers cultural, educational and social programs. Her role involves assisting at events that bring together diverse segments of the community. These gatherings not only provide entertainment and education for people of all ages, but also foster stronger community ties and nurture inclusivity.

Autumn also demonstrated her commitment to animal welfare by volunteering with Detroit Animal Care and Control from 2021 to 2024. She assisted with animal care and adoption events, improving the lives of many animals and facilitating their adoption into loving homes. This experience underscores the importance of compassionate care and community involvement in addressing animal welfare issues.

Autumn also talks about her recent appointment as a 2024 Detroit Economic Club’s Rising Star honoree.


(CONTINUED) Starting in 2022, Autumn engaged deeply with Detroit’s economic landscape through her involvement with the Detroit Economic Club, where she supported meetings and mentored the next generation of business leaders. In 2023, she expanded her role by joining the Young Leaders Board, fostering a network of young professionals, ensuring Detroit’s economic vitality while promoting greater economic equity.

As a volunteer at the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition in 2022, she contributed to efforts aimed at preventing substance abuse and promoting mental health among youth. By participating in community outreach and educational programs, Autumn supported initiatives that foster a healthier and safer community environment. 

Her advice to her 20-year-old self? Always manage your mindset. Don’t let a little adversity get in the way, don’t think too much about small inconveniences, and know that the law of attraction is real. She believes that positivity is at the root of most success, most fruitful business connections, and most wins in life.
