July 17, 2024 ~ Following the national anthem flub of country singer and Southfield native Ingrid Andress on Monday, a longtime national anthem singer in Michigan has responded to her performance.

Andress, who sang at the MLB‘s Home Run Derby, posted on social media Tuesday that she was drunk during the performance and will enter rehab. Former Detroit Red Wings national anthem singer Karen Newman told WJR, “I felt so bad for Ingrid last night because I could tell it was too low. But then again, when she got to the higher notes, she didn’t have those notes. I know that she came out and said that she was inebriated, but it also sounded to me, just as a vocalist, like she was having some vocal issues as well.
