Michigan Primaries to Take Place Aug. 6

MICHIGAN, Aug. 5, 2024 ~ On Tuesday, Michigan voters will decide who will appear on the general election ballots for legislative positions.

Voters statewide will pick the Democrat and Republican nominees for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, with Democrats choosing between U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-8) and actor Hill Harper, and Republicans choosing between former U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, physician Sherry O’Donnell, and millionaire Sandy Pensler. Metro Detroit U.S. Reps. Shri Thanedar (MI-13) and Haley Stevens (MI-11) face notable challengers Detroit City Council member Mary Waters and activist Ahmed Ghanim respectively, both critics of the United States‘ support for Israel amid its bombardment of Gaza.
