DETROIT, Aug. 9, 2024 ~ Michigan Central Station in Detroit has emerged as a beacon of the city’s revitalization, drawing over 100,000 visitors since its reopening by Ford Motor Company in June. The station’s reopening has captivated the public, leading to the extension of summer tours through Labor Day weekend. Jessica Sharp, head of experience for Michigan Central, highlighted the emotional impact on visitors as they stepped into the Grand Hall for the first time in years. Following Labor Day, public access will be limited due to ongoing construction and exhibit de-installations, though guided experiences with specific entry times will continue until the station resumes full operations later in the fall.

Efforts to restore the beloved Michigan Central Station have carefully balanced preserving its historical essence with incorporating modern innovations. The station is envisioned as a future innovation hub in Detroit, providing new opportunities for residents and encouraging them to stay in Michigan.
