DETROIT, Aug. 20, 2024 ~ Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has confirmed to speak at the Oakland County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner at the Suburban Collection Showplace this Wednesday.

Kilpatrick, who was elected twice as Detroit’s Democratic mayor, is expected to address his journey of repentance and redemption following his 2013 conviction on 24 felony counts, including racketeering, extortion, bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax violations.

I think we’re living in a time where this kind of ‘run-to-your-favorite-corner’ politics is not working for America,” Kilpatrick said today on “’JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds.”

When we get into strictly identity and partisanship politics, I think we lose, and so for me, it was just time to come out … to be who I am, and to be the representative of whom I serve.”
