Michigan Congressmembers Call On State Department to Help U.S. Citizens Evacuate Lebanon

MICHIGAN, Oct. 2, 2024 ~ U.S. representatives Debbie Dingell (MI-6) and Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) are urging the federal government to help U.S. citizens evacuate Lebanon amid Israel‘s brutal bombardment and ground offensive of the country.

In an Instagram post made on Monday, Tlaib said her team was working on helping residents of her district evacuate, which contains one of the largest Arab American populations in the country. “As a congresswoman to a beautiful diverse district, I shouldn’t have to beg our own government to help its own citizens,” she wrote in a separate post on Wednesday. “We are abandoning American citizens. This is a complete failure on the part of the State Department.”
