EAST LANSING, October 20, 2024 ~ In their 11th win of the season, No. 21 Michigan State women’s soccer shut out Northwestern by a score of 1-0 at DeMartin Stadium in East Lansing Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder Bella Najera registered the lone second half goal to help push the Spartans to their sixth conference win. Graduate forward Meg Hughes and senior midfielder Jordyn Wickes both tallied assists on the score. The point marks Hughes’ 17th of the season, leading her entire team.

(CONTINUED) Graduate goaltender Kaitlyn Parks registered three saves in the 10th Spartan clean sheet of 2024. She has now recorded eight scoreless outings herself along with nine victories.
MSU controlled the action the entire night, leading in shots and corner kicks. The Spartans put up 20 shots in total to Northwestern’s four, while 10 green and white kicks were at the goal. Michigan State also dominated the corner kick battle, taking 15 of their own.
Head coach Jeff Hosler and his team will look to extend their win streak into the last game of the regular season where Purdue will head to East Lansing next Sunday.
