DETROIT, Oct. 23, 2024 ~ Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said people should expect election results to be certified the day after the election on Nov. 5.

She based this off of the 2020 general election, which saw the unofficial results finished on Wednesday evening. Benson said on WJR that 1.2 million votes have already been casted through absentee ballots and early voting, but some communities have decided to wait until election day to count all ballots, causing delays in tabulation.
