MICHIGAN, Oct. 28, 2024 ~ They are one of Michigan‘s wealthiest and most controversial families, and they are donating millions of dollars to a billionaire’s political committee.
The Devos family has chipped in two million dollars to the America PAC which is the political committee founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, which spent more than $118 million to try and re-elect former President Donald Trump. Former Amway CEO Dick Devos and his wife Betsey Devos, who served as Trump’s education secretary, have donated a combined half a million dollars to the PAC. Other Devos family members have contributed a combined $1 million.

(CONTINUED) Betsy Devos resigned from Trump’s administration after the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, though the DeVos family members have been long-term and major funders of religious and Republican causes over the years. The family has long been polarizing in Michigan, with a Detroit News/WDIV poll in 2018 finding that Betsy Devos had a 60% disapproval rating in her role as education secretary.
