EAST LANSING, November 2, 2024 ~ After a strong first quarter for the Spartans, Michigan State football (4-5) could not muster any more points throughout the rest of the game as No. 13 Indiana (9-0) took home a 47-10 victory Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.

The green and white jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first 15 minutes. Graduate kicker Jonathan Kim buried a 47-yard field goal to get MSU on the board first, then freshman wide receiver Nick Marsh made a spectacular toe-tap touchdown catch for the third of his young career.

(CONTINUED) “They feel embarrassed but they know what is ahead of themhead coach Jonathan Smith told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg after the game. “We have to keep working and growing and be ready for these last three games.”

From there on out the Hoosiers would dominate both sides of the ball. MSU sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles threw multiple interceptions that helped set Indiana up for a touchdown opportunity. During the third period, Chiles went down with an injury and was replaced by sixth year quarterback Tommy Schuster.

While the MSU defense forced a couple of three and outs from the Indiana offense, the unit was not able to hold for more than a couple of possessions. By the end of the evening, the Hoosiers scored six straight touchdowns, tallying four through the air.

Michigan State will get an opportunity to rest this weekend with a bye. After the bye, the Spartans will hit the road to take on no. 24 Illinois for the team’s second consecutive ranked matchup and fourth of the season.
