DETROIT, November 10, 2024 ~ The Detroit Lions somehow found a way to win 26-23 Sunday night on the road against the Houston Texans, ending with a last second 52-yard field goal that barely stayed inside the upright from kicker Jake Bates.
Quarterback Jared Goff dusted off a five interception performance with a turnover free fourth quarter and two passing touchdowns, one going to tight end Sam LaPorta and the other going to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Prior to the game winner, Bates snuck in a booming 58-yarder to continue his perfect kicking percentage over his NFL career. Off the momentum of his first make which tallied as the third longest in franchise history, his 14th made kick of the season marked the second one of the year that beat the clock for the win.

(CONTINUED) Even though the defense had to jump back on the field multiple times in tough positions because of turnovers, the unit held when it most needed to. Houston scored 23 points in the first half, but didn’t reach the scoring column in the second.
Cornerback Carlton Davis III made two momentum shifting interceptions along with a combined four sacks from the defensive line, without starting ends Aidan Hutchinson and Za’Darius Smith, boosted the squad to an improbable victory.
Since the week two loss to the Buccaneers, Detroit has tied a franchise record with seven straight wins. They also have won five straight road games, breaking the previous program benchmark.
The Lions will come back home to Ford Field next weekend after a two game road trip for a matchup with the Jaguars.
